Scripting has been done for about a month for my film. Set building is going to be really hard. Me and my brother have been working on a rig for a helecoper that will allow it to be fully mobile, it's taking a really long time. I can't film until my room is done (which will hopefully be in a week or two). Waiting for voice actors.

How?

His film was probably one he was already working on that happened to fit the theme well.

I just got permission from an author to adapt a short story into a brickfilm to enter in this contest. Should be interesting.

Yes! This will be epic! I will do this when my studio is back on-line. I just have a few questions; 1, can we use copyrighted music if we get permission, and, 2,Is a joint effort allowed.

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

Wow, a lot has happened since I went away. I'm back now though. I don't think I have any films planned a part from a co-production, but not really to worry, I think I can enter.

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

I've got some scene ideas, but no basic plot. However, I think it's turning into a parody of classic sci-fi action films, which shouldn't be too hard to do. I'm also hoping for some cool exterior shots of the space ship the film takes place in, which may, or may not be CGI.

It may also end up as being a sort of Crispy Cheeser in Space film, which would be great.

1) Yes, if the creator of the music has the authority to give you that permission.  (Sometimes the record label would really be the authority here.) However I'd assume the music is from an unsigned band or composer, in which case you should be fine if you have permission.

2) Yes, you might want to decide ahead of time what you'd do about any winnings.

It's neat to see people are coming up with lots of ideas, though I hope this doesn't just turn into a straight-up science fiction and time travel contest.  Creativity and originality will be important factors in judging this contest and taking the most obvious approach possible to the theme isn't necessarily going to get you the best ranking in the 'theme' and 'story' categories.

Remember, the theme "Space, Time, & Reality" isn't supposed to define the genre for you, it's supposed to define a key plot element.

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

Alright, I've finished writing down the plot of the film, and following that I finally figured out the title.

TIME and SPACE

And no, I didn't just rip the title off from the title of the contest, it actually goes in with the story.:P This film is going to be a bit more serious than my other films, btw. Don't expect any jokes.

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

The title of my entry will probably be The Human Element. I've been shuffling through the short story, figuring out what to keep and what to take out. I'm working on a test to see if my idea is really feasible.

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

I'm pretty on the fence on if I want to enter the film that I have in the works. The basis of the film is time travel, which seems REALLY popular, so I might go with a more obscure and original theme (Plus, then I wouldn't have to wait almost 3 months to upload it publicly). I'll play around with ideas and see what else I can come up with.

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

I'm definitely entering. I have a great idea, and, after messing around on the piano, think I have some music that would fit it really well. This is gonna be awesome! mini/bigsmile
