Re: Will there be a BIM 2013?

Running a good contest isn't that hard at all in my opinion. It just takes time, effort, and dedication. The first and only contest I've ever run was quite successful, gathering 30+ entries. Sure, there were some prizes, but they weren't super great (the most expensive prize cost me like $15 I think). I think the reason why it was so successful was it's theme and time constraints. Holiday contests seem to do especially well, as many people want to make holiday themed films already.

Most of the contests here on BiM appeal to me only for the fun of the game, not for any prizes that could be won. If you have an original and interesting concept for a contest... plan it well... and then manage it well... I'm sure it'll turn out good. Just don't rush into anything and make sure to invest time into it. I'm sure I'll run Christmas in a Minute again this year so long as my studies don't take up too much of my time.

On a side note... will there be the Bricks in Motion awards for last year?

Re: Will there be a BIM 2013?

Yeah.

My FoS 2 entry wasn't even scary, looking back upon it. Set in 1981, it's about a little boy who finds a beautiful bicycle in an alley. But, little does he know, it belongs to a mysterious psycho who's...looking for him. mini/eek

I should have delved deeper into the "horror" of the contest theme. Something more scary. But, like you said, Smeag, it's hard to make a chilling, horror brickfilm.

Have you seen a big-chinned boy?

Re: Will there be a BIM 2013?

I think the reason why it was so successful was...

Because your popular...
and you have talent as a brickfilmer, I'm not very good, so when I put up a contest, nobody even payed attention to me.
(I don't have anything against you. I mean I'm a fan.)

Just out of curiosity, who organized the previous TOY and Festival of Souls contests?

A horror-themed contest sounds interesting; perhaps one could get around having loads of comedy-themed entries by stipulating that the entry must be reasonably serious or must in some way deal with "serious" horror themes.

Festival of Souls was run by Onion, who does not plan on running the contest again. TOY was an official BiM contest, so Smeagol was in charge of that
