Have you seen a big-chinned boy?

Ninjago Lego Movie…meh. Not really interested.

I mean, it's cool that McKay is directing it, but I'm not sure how I feel about it; I suppose all we can do is wait and see.

Re: Official LEGO Movie

Imagine if TLM was filmed with actual Lego bricks instead of in cgi????!!!  What?!!

Then it would not even be out for another...5 years or so.

But a Batman movie? Yes please. As long as the comedy and style of the movie is the same. Hopefully new directors and writers can reproduce the fun and humor of TLM.

Re: Official LEGO Movie

I don't think it'd look as good in real LEGO, either. It's interesting how they exaggerate the translucency of the bricks, allowing them to create soft, diffused light effects and shadows that aren't really possible to achieve with real LEGO, and avoid some of the ugly reflection problems that you have to fight in real LEGO animation. It looks like LEGO, but it's really optimized to produce something more akin to how live action movies look.

Re: Official LEGO Movie

What if I spray all of my bricks with a thin coat of matte-finish urethane?

Re: Official LEGO Movie

I've thought about that kind of thing but I'm reluctant to engage in brick mutilation, haha. I've also thought about using a circular polarizing filter, though those only cut reflections at a particular angle at a given time.

Use dusty, dirty old Lego bricks.
Problem solved.

Re: Official LEGO Movie

The biggest problem I have when it comes to reflections are the heads. I have recently changed one of my lamps with one that is the same as the other, as the old one has suddenly stopped working, so I hope that might make some difference.

Re: Official LEGO Movie

I was a tad skeptical of the Batman LEGO Movie spinoff, but seeing those images, even with how astronomically little they show, I'm having a better time visualizing how this movie might actually work well. Looking forward to it!

Re: Official LEGO Movie

Who wants to see a movie about a lonely plastic guy that likes dressing up in black tights and illegally flying, driving, and boating various bat-themed vehicles through the city?

I guess I do.

And here's the trailer: Link.

I'm gonna go see it. Probably.

Re: Official LEGO Movie

I'm more interested in this than in Batman v Superman.

Re: Official LEGO Movie

Well, there's not much to see in the trailer itself.  Visually, it looks great, just like The LEGO Movie itself, so it'll be worth watching for that alone.  Also, even admitting the fact that Batman & Robin exists is pretty bold.  The superhero genre as a whole could definitely benefit from this sort of tongue-in-cheek parody feel.  Though, the music used reminded me a lot of Deadpool's marketing.

With that said, though, I'm not sure about this film as a whole.  LEGO Movie Batman is funny as a side character, but he doesn't have a whole lot of depth.  He'pretty much summed up by his "DARKNESS!!! NO PARENTS!!!" end credits song.   Bruce Wayne/Batman in general has a highly complex psychology to him, but LEGO Movie Batman's personality is very one-dimensional.  As a joke character who has a limited presence in The LEGO Movie he works really well and adds a lot of humour, but as a main character in his own film I feel like he'd lose his charm and what makes him funny to begin with.  There's no depth to his character, so there's no real potential for meaningful character change or development, in the way there was for Emmett/Finn and President Business/The Man Upstairs.

I'm probably reading way too much into this, though.  And to be honest, it's hard to say what tis film will be like going off a single teaser.  After all, when The LEGO Movie was announced, I thought it was going to be awful, and we all know what it actually turned out to be like.

Re: Official LEGO Movie

Based on the synopsis of the movie, they're going to take advantage of that one-dimensionality. Batman's a lonely guy (and kind of a jerk) that need friends but doesn't admit it. Yada yada yada he learns a lesson, does teamwork, develops some character, but still remains his "Batman-like" self. Though, I am hoping the movie won't be as predictable as I'm thinking, that's my main concern.
