Re: Sets and Props Critique Thread

I'm working on the Captain meeting room from Bleach.
The original:

What I've got so far:

I'm using tan bricks due to the lack of rose coloured bricks in THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD. mini/madhead

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Re: Sets and Props Critique Thread

You could just use red bricks. It looks red to me.

...I wish you had told me that hours ago when I started building... mini/madhead

Putting that aside, anything else?

Re: Sets and Props Critique Thread

Maybe make the ceiling higher? In the original, the walls look about three time the height of a person. A tiled floor would also add a whole new dimension to the room.

I never plan on buying anything when I go to the Lego Store.
Strangely enough, I always wind up finding something that makes me ditch those plans.

Re: Sets and Props Critique Thread

Yeah, I'm still working on the walls. I might even make the door narrower as well.

And a tiled floor? Possibly, if I have enough. But it might be harder to a animate in there, though.

Re: Sets and Props Critique Thread

The door in the original looks about three people wide... maybe two or so studs less than what is is in the lego version, if at all. (It won't looks so wide if the walls are higher. mini/wink )
True about animation.... how about plates?

Re: Sets and Props Critique Thread

Change the base plate to a tan one.

Re: Sets and Props Critique Thread

I agree.

If you dont have tan plates, I recommend buying some from Bricklink.

Here's a set i'm working on for a new movie I'm hoping to make soon called "Fight". I'm hoping to collect enough individual lego studs to fill the whole baseplate. I know its a longshot, but it would be so cool. Go to my Flickr

Maggosh, build a wall out of 1x4 peices, and lay it flat to give the floor a tiled look.

Yechi Hamelech!

Re: Sets and Props Critique Thread

SNOT, eh? Hmm, I'll give it a try. I think I'll be able to scare some tan ones up when I swap the walls with red.

Oi. I guess I'll change the name if its done by the likes of Errol. Any ideas?

Re: Sets and Props Critique Thread

It's going along quite nicely. I removed the tan bricks and replaced them with red. I then rebuilt the tan bricks into a 30-high wall. Unfortunately, it's not gonna fit the whole room, with the opposite wall I've built. But, the whole room isn't going to be seen all at once, so I'll use it to shoot one scene at a time, then move the walls around. Here:

Sans minifigs:

Shot of the wall (since where I've got the camera placed won't show the whole thing)

I'm still working on the walls, however. C&C?

Re: Sets and Props Critique Thread

Your using smooth bricks for the ground? Isn't that going to be hard to animate? mini/confused

Clay is good for that.
You just reminded me, I was going to do a tutorial of walking on a flat surface for brickhelp. mini/bigsmile
I should do that pretty soon.

Re: Sets and Props Critique Thread

Don't use clay. Use blu-tac. Clay will get stuck up the minifig's legs forever. I learnt that the hard way.

I made that mistake, although, you can just pour boiling water on them and the clay should be pretty brittle and easy to come off. But still, I have DOZENS of lego, minifigs, and baseplates from when I was a noob (Not saying I'm that good right now...)
