Re: Your Top Ten?

The Phantom Menace isnt the worst thing ever. Its a huge let-down IMO, but I've witnessed a lot of awful things in my time. I would call Moffat-era Doctor Who worse than The Phantom Menace...

Maybe its just because The Phantom Menace was the first of the Star Wars film I ever saw. When I first saw it, I loved it simply because the ending three-way Lightsaber duel is still one of the most awesome things ever. I didn't find Jar Jar funny, I always fast forwarded the Pod-race, and I didn't care much about the plot. Watching the prequels after viewing the Original Trilogy, however, they all got worse. I still find Episode 2 far worse than Episode 1 - even with the inclusion of Christopher Lee and Samuel L Jackson finally kicking ass (he is incredibly mis-cast in these movies).

I've also made some slight alterations to my Top 10:

1) Brazil
2) Star Wars Episode 4
3) Memento
4) Citizen Kane
5) Pink Floyds 'The Wall'
6) The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
7) Ed Wood
8) Vertigo
9) Hot Fuzz
10) Pulp Fiction

Obviously, if I had to put the most intellectual films I like, my list would probably look like the AFI's list. I always base 'favourite' as 'Movies I can watch again and again and love it just as much every single time'. I love A LOT of movies, so I'm just basing my list on movies that always give me the same joy I got the first time I saw them. This is primarily why Star Wars is on there.

Well, yeah, some cheesy parts were annoying. Jar Jar, I don't hate him, though I hated that Anakin has no father and that stuff, plus some cheesy dialogue. But still, the beginning is good and enjoyable (until they meet jar jar), I might even add "highly" (enjoyable) in there, and the duel at the end it's great. Darth Maul is surely an interesting villain, too bad he dies (same for Liam Neeson). After all, Attack of the Clones features more cheesy dialogues and boring sequences than The Phantom Menace. Of course, this is just my opinion and it may change in the future.

Re: Your Top Ten?

I think it's safe to assume that not "everypony" hates the Phantom Menace. Compared to the star warses that came before it it was the worst film every made but compared to anything else it's pretty good. Of course everypony has different reasons to dislike it.

(Also, why does everypony hate Jar Jar Binks if they like Derpy Hooves so much?)

Re: Your Top Ten?

Re: Your Top Ten?

Return of the Jedi is the best, no question about it. The Jabba's Palace sequence is still one of my favourite things ever. If you ignore the CGI... things that Lucas edited in. Urgh.

4. For a Few Dollars More

5. The Thing
