EDIT: Such a great set, indeed, I have it, so does TheCoolDude1023 (We're brothers mini/tongue ) but on http://www.lego.com, it only has a 3.5/5 average customer rating, say what?

Would I be a heathen if I said that I'm interested in buying some Mega Bloks Halo sets? Brickfilming encompasses Mega Bloks, after all, though I've never really liked it before.

I don't make Brickfilms. I trade virtual hats.

Completely setting aside my hate for them, it's still not a very good choice.
The figures for Mega Bloks have very, very, very bad joints, often times the can't stay up properly. This is not good for animation.

I remember a friend of mine told me he was going to buy a Halo set which I had recommended against, but he bought it anyway, he was disappointed with it and regretted it.

The bricks are also hard to stick together, and hard to take apart.

Re: What was the last LEGO set you got?

i have a Mega Bloks halo set, and it falls apart easily, and i got very frustrated.. that was the first and probably last Mega Bloks set i will buy.. mini/sad

It's nice to see Lego use some new designs and some old ones, like the back of the police car is the same as the police car in the Spiderman Bank set.

Back after taking a VERY FREAKING long break. 14 months, I believe. Anyways I'm going to be making films again. Much better ones.

Re: What was the last LEGO set you got?

I used to have some Mega Blocks that I got from my uncle back when he couldn't tell the difference between Lego and Mega Blocks. Some of the bricks/blocks were hard to put together, and some of them wouldn't connect at all. Those pieces would just pop off. I remember one set in patricular, a black fighter plane, never stayed together. It would fall apart at the slightest touch. I got rid of them all sometime before last year. Last year, I got a few Mega Block peices in someone's old abandoned school project that was made out of Legos that the teacher let me have. Now, those few pieces are grouped together on my messy animation table. I'm probably going to get rid of them.

Do you want to get some just so you can enter that contest, Genzarata? Or is it something else?
Either way, you're going to animate with them, so I would advise against it.

For a non-license set, $55 is a lot of cash.

EDIT: Oh what the hell?! It's $25 in the US and you guys complain? It's more than twice the price here!

First off, I have a massive Mega Bloks ship that I received several years ago, at least five. Nonetheless, not a single piece has broken off, despite the hull having been rather tricky to piece together. I have considered the contest, that's what has garnered my interest in the series (I've seen the Halo stuff before, but I didn't know exactly what the franchise was at the time). I would like to animate some Halo sets whether I enter the competition or not, because I'm fairly knowledgeable on the weapons, storyline etc, the special effects are easy enough (paper for the win) and it might even get me motivated to start brickfilming again (it's been SIX MONTHS). I think I'll get a couple of smaller sets, just to trial.

From what I've seen, the joints make the figures easier to animate, and remember - BluTack is an animator's best friend ever.

I knew that already, but you asked why it had such a low rating, and I answered that question pretty well IMO.

Heh, $25 would be cheap for something like that in Sweden. The prices here are horrible.
