As suggested by the title, this film - an entry for the Ani-Exercise Contest - depicts an exciting sea pursuit/battle between two Lego ships. The entire clip is themed like a Zelda videogame, and features music from the game and the character Link. The videogame feel is also preserved in the film's style of speech - subtitles are presented in place of voice-overs. Other notable aspects of this movie are the interesting animation techniques and set design. Many of the camera shots and angles do a great job of establishing scale and are executed well, particularly the panning shots below deck and the gunners-eye-view shots. The animation is also appropriately lively and is great to watch, especially that of the pirates as they steer the ship's wheel, fire cannons, and move about on the ship. The animator has also discovered a great solution for replicating water, one I had never heard of before. It certainly looks very realistic, and the waves combined with the ships' gentle rocking really create a great feel of "out to sea". All in all, it's a well-done entry - well worth taking a modest 2:11 to check out, especially if you enjoy pirates.
