Staff Review

Randy Yard:
Tripod's Dark Bounty is one of the best brickfilm series ever, and it's for one reason: the story. This film, a prequel to the other films in the series, is no exception. The camera quality leaves plenty to be desired and the animation is merely "good enough," but even so this film grabs you in the opening moments and doesn't let go for the entire 13 minute running time. Fantastic voice acting is a huge positive, but it's the director's narrative skills that are the biggest key as the film pieces together the compelling beginnings of the dystopian society that emerges later in the series. Faithfully shot in a style reminiscent of recent graphic novel and comic book based movies, this origin story is the perfect proof that you don't need expensive equipment and perfect animation to produce a great film.
