I sometimes use it and I believe Just Kidden does too at times.

Umm, 12 fps is good, but for any high action sequences it looks choppy. What I would recommend is 12 fps for slow scenes, to minimize animating time, and 15 fps in higher action scenes.
As for animators, I've heard rumors that Mindgame used 12 fps in stranger than fishing, but I don't actually know.

If you had 3 times as many frames for the first one, it would've been better. But for someone at your level, I suggest staying with 15 fps. When your animation improves and you feel comfortable with 15 fps, you slowly progress to 30 fps. That's what I'm doing right now.

Here's what I'm trying to say:
If 12FPS doesn't look right, it's the animator's fault. Animating at 15FPS simply requires different increments and timing to make things look right than 12FPS. Something that takes 5 frames to animate (like a step forward) on 15FPS needs 4 frames to be just as fast on 12FPS.
So the framerate used is up to the animator. Personally, I choose 15. It's a few more pictures than 12fps, but that still doesn't mean it's going to be better. It all depends on how you animate. I don't know specifically who shoots at 12fps, but I've heard that many do.

I'm saying that 12fps can be just as good as 15 as long as you animate according to your frame rate. For a higher frame rate you will want to move the figure in smaller increments. But for lower frame rates, like 12, you would want to move your figure in larger increments. Doing this will give you better results. The tests you have at the beginning of this thread wouldn't look good at 12fps. They would be way too fast.
ok i saw it but isn't 12 fps a littlee slow?
Not necessarily. It all depends on how much you move the object that you are animating each time you take a new frame. Many people make good films using 12fps. You have to adjust your animation to the frame rate. For 12fps, you would move the object in slightly larger increments than 15fps in order to still have the speed of animation that was made during 15fps (if that makes any sense).
