The thing is, its during a civil war. You don't want to turn on your lights in the middle of the night, because anyone of the other political side will shoot you. The street lamps are dark because it said in the story everything was dark. I actually should have removed them completely, but forgot to. Lets say they were shot broken.

what may be intentional but looks somewhat strange is that all the windows are dark. Some indirect lighting would be effective I think.

I'm planning on redoing the panning shot. The narration is slow, and the shot was way too fast. I need to stretch it out to 20 seconds at least. I'll also increase the brightness of the machine-gun man as well.
As for 0:17, that was an accident, however it helps with the story because it says "as of the approaching dawn." Glad you all liked it! I'll be increasing the brightness ever so slightly because of YouTube, but I'll keep the rest like this if you all like it. :)

The beginning is great, but at 0:17 the lighting is a bit strange (direct light on the background). The last shot (with the man firing the gatling/machinegun/...)is nice, but compared to the other shots, it's too dark (youtube's fault maybe).
All in all, this is really good, and I loved the panning shot. :)

It's a small clip of the opening scene. Tell me if the darkness is too little, too much, or just right. Please note that YouTube did make it darker than the original.

That was great. The only thing I would suggest is getting a small light bulb (this is optional but in my opinion it would make it more realistic) and shining it off in the corner to create a streetlight effect. Something as small as a christmas light may work.
