I've done that a lot. The one thing I've found that helps the most is to just start on a page or two of storyboarding. even if you don't storyboard or don't like doing it, do it anyways. I did that for one of my movies I started on a while ago, and I'm still ready to make the film. And I only made about 8 storyboard boxes.
I agree starting with your basic idea then develope a story board with out making it too complex but not leaving out too many details then start elaborating on each story board section when scripting. Another way to elaborate is seperating the dialogue wand what happens in tat scene. For example: Scene 1: Man goes to the store he leaves.
Then script the dialogue for that scene

That happens to me loads of times. My solution, come up with a base idea for your film, right most of the script if not all of it. Then get right into animating, it can just be a scene or 2, nothing big. This will get you rolling, you realize that this could really be an awesome movie. :) DP

Of course, we're talking about brickfilms here; you shouldn't be writing that large of a script. Vik's suggestion of writing biographies for your characters can be useful, but since these are brickfilms, you're probably not going to have the opportunity to really develop your characters.

Yeah true, but I write a lot of things I don't make, longer scripts, so for them, I write characterfiles.

The standard advice is to just keep writing. Even if it's bad, write something. Then read it over and think about what works and what doesn't, and start revising your work. Always be writing something. Drawing storyboards for those pieces you know you like can also help to stimulate your imagination.

Of course, we're talking about brickfilms here; you shouldn't be writing that large of a script. Vik's suggestion of writing biographies for your characters can be useful, but since these are brickfilms, you're probably not going to have the opportunity to really develop your characters.

I had the same problem. I have a tip though. Film the first scene, and if it comes out good then you will do the rest. I guaranty it. (Well we aren't betting cash so I guaranty it :P). It worked for me. I have been planning a film for months and have just started it. I have about one or two minutes done! Hope that helped...

sometimes it's hard to stay with one project.

try reading the script aloud and hearing it - or having someone else read it.

another tip i have is try not to get too excited at the beginning of the project. what i mean is brickfilming is a long process, so if you get all hyped in the beginning you might loose steam as the hours and hours of animation pile up.

good luck
