Oh good.. I'm not the only one.. was focusing more on the door.. Nothing like a dark shadow coming out of nowhere to scare ya huh?

Good luck in the contest :)

As for the lighting, May I ask what type of light you were using? I might have a idea for you to try with the darkness..

Well, getting good lighting in this situation is difficult, and I'm no expert. Whenever I've had a 'dark' shot it's just trial and error. Some things I try are dimming my lamps with paper, messing with position of the light, and then fiddling with my camera settings like aperture to adjust how much light gets in the camera. I think it's especially difficult with an interior scene like you have in your film, I don't know, anybody else have any knowledge with this type of lighting?
That was pretty good. I actually thought the scariest part is when the kid opens his eyes :o

The animation was good, but the lighting was a little sketchy. It looked like you filmed it with normal lighting, and then just adjusted the brightness afterwards, am I right? It was hard to see and didn't look very realistic.

But the lighting was the only thing that really needed work, the rest was nice :)
Yes, you are right. I couldn't get good darkness lighting so I just changed the brightness.
How do you get good darkness lighting anyway?
