The 9000 has no on-camera focus (focus ring), but on a PC it has a remote focus feature that can be controlled through the settings. I can understand your mistake, it's quite an easy one to make, if you bought it relatively recently, I'd seriously consider taking it back. The 4000 (or whatever it's called nowerdays) may be a better option for you, though I'm unsure as to whether they work on macs (I would find a link, but right now I can't be bothered)
I really didn't know that. It's funny, because a few months ago the same question arose and several different people concluded that it didn't have manual settings such as focus, exposure (lock), etc .

But I seriously don't get that, they make a version of the 9000 specifically for macs, yet they don't include all the functions?? Sheesh.

As for the 4000, it works only up to a version of mac 3 or 4 years ago, and my system I bought a little before last year.
Wow. Now knowing this, it makes the whole mac experience that much better

They don't work on Macs unfortunately. And that's the exact Computer we have. To think I was going to get it without knowing it wasn't compatible with Macs.

God, I bought that camera, and I regret it. I'm confused as to why everyone loves this camera, because it's got NO MANUAL SETTINGS!

(btw, ANYone who is a mac user, what camera did you buy that have live-feed compatibility and ALL manual settings? I'm going nuts right now, and I'm not about to sped $1,000+ for DV cam...)

Last camera I used for animation was my Canon G10. Completely manual, eliminates any flickering and whatnot. A 15$ release cable keeps me from shaking the camera (easier than using it with an animating program, live feed is irritating), and I can raise the f-stop far enough to make the macro focus abilities of the camera have a broader dof. Put me back 500$ when I bought it, and it's an excellent camera outside of animating anyway.
