This is an absolutely terrific brickfilm.
I get a Plonsters-Morph vibe when watching the interaction between the characters as well as the Magic Portal. What are the inspirations (other than Magic Portal) for this short?
At the very end, it says it was made for MMDE13-340 animation class. What does that stand for? And is there a playlist of animations for the other animations? (assuming other people have also made their own animations)
Plonsters was definitely a direct inspiration for the way I did the voices, I've been watching those animations a lot lately. Magic Portal for the faces as well, definitely. Those are actually the two biggest inspirations really, you kinda hit the nail on the head there.
MMDE is just code for Multi Media Design or something like that, I took the class as an elective at my university. It wasn't a particularly useful class for me personally, but it was an excuse to make an animation and show some other people how to do stop motion.
There was one other lego animation that was pretty good, as well as a really funny Pingu parody, if I can get ahold of links I'll post them here soon.
Also, I may do a tutorial on how I did the face tracking/animation if anyone's interested.

This is an absolutely terrific brickfilm.
I especially loved the first few seconds where the blue guy was skipping as the camera moves downward. The poses are excellent and still lasts in my mind till this point.
Although HoldingOurOwn does not like the face animation, I do. Except for the parts where the faces "fuzz". Preferably, I'd like the see the faces "actually" drawn on like Magic Portal but it is understandable if you can't buy that many headpieces.

I have a few questions here:

Haha! Very nice!

It has a lovely retro feel thanks to the classic spacemen, character-orientated plot, and that amazing facial animation.
Each character moved in ways that clearly displayed their attitudes and emotions, beautifying an story that would not be as rich and entertaining otherwise. And like any decent feud, there's more misunderstanding, pride, and emotion involved than actual good vs evil, which gives each character even more humanity and, well, character. Again, the animation is top-notch, and the set is a perfect match for the characters and story.

You continue to impress. Excellent.
