Although I really like the castle theme from the pre-2000 era (not to say that the sets were bad after 2000), if I wanted to get most of the sets that I wanted but never got then it would be the 2000s. This is because first of all, at the beginning of the decade there were the lego studios sets, which I never got any of. Also, I really liked the medieval fantasy sets in 2006-8 with the trolls/orcs etc. Finally, it would mean getting most of the Star Wars sets that I really want, as although I managed to get the sets from 2007 onwards, I couldn't get any of the ep.2/3 sets, some of which were really good. There were even some star wars sets from 2008-9 that I never got but would really like to. Finally, some of the harry potter sets for the 4th and 5th movies were discontinued before I started collecting lego, and so it would definitely be worth getting those as well. :)

Some late 80's sets have been starting to peak my interest as of late. The Classic Pirates, first few follow ups to Classic Space, and the Classic Castle sets in particular... The Lego system was much simpler back then. Many of those building techniques are inspirational, if not just for the fact that they're mainly built with bright colored 2x4's on top of some hilly base plates.

I really wish Lego would bring back/do more hilly base plates. It certainly would have spiced up Ninjago and Chima. (Maybe not enough to get me interested in them, but, it wouldn't have hurt)

I would say 80's and 90's. I've always loved what Lego released in these time periods, especially during the 80's, what with Classic Space and the release of Pirates (late 80's). Having had a few bits and bobs from the 80's and 90's, you do get the impression that TLG these days are defiantly at the top of the league these days, playing it a lot more safe than what they used to.

1970s and 1980s. They are may favorite set eras, and now they are often worth quite a bit of money as well.

Also, I would say 1990s because then I could get all the first Star wars Lego sets. Actually I have a most of those sets already, so I'd be more prudent to say 2000s over 1990s because of all the episode II and III sets I never got but wanted.

Great question, LegoLordPro. Personally, I couldn't choose just one decade of Lego's history to exclusively buy sets from. Some of my favorite themes came from the mid 90's, like Western, Classic Pirates, and The Adventurers (especially popular for its main character - Johnny Thunder, who was even in the Lego Movie!).

However, I'm also pretty fond of the themes released just around the time I first started buying/getting Lego sets, like Alpha Team, Harry Potter, early Star Wars, and especially Studios.

If I could split between two decades, I'd choose 1994-2004. I wasn't a big fan of the color pallet change, however, have come to appreciate the larger library of colors that have come from it. A lot of the more recent 2015/2016 sets look great, though. So, it would be a really tough choice to limit myself to just a 10 year period of Lego's illustrious history.

That is a very tough question. I have some of my father's old Lego from the 1970s, but I think it would be great to have more from then, like the very first Lego castle. I think it would be very hard, however, to choose just one decade of Lego. To be honest, I would like more from every decade of Lego.
