Those are both great ideas, rioforce. However, since I won't be able to animate, anything that I do would have to be wholly done in the computer... That is, unless I made a behind the scenes video of myself, talking about the original series and detailing things to come in my own! :)

UPDATE

Alright, I've got a bit of bad news for those eagerly awaiting my Sliders Series. However, with this bad news does come good news for you as well. Overall, It's a pretty bittersweet feeling for me right now.

First, the bad news: My Sliders series will have to be delayed.

I already had put the series 'on the shelf,' if you will, until August... And now, I'm going to have to do the same with the pilot. I really wanted it to air on the 20th anniversary of the original show, however, my personal plans have changed since then.

Some of you may know that I've been in the process of moving after a pretty disasterous series of events last year/the begging of this year. I'd been temporarily displaced in a hotel during THAC, and now, am again displaced in a Hotel... I'll be on and off looking for a new place for the next month. The first time I'd be guaranteed to finally be settled down, with full access to my LEGO collection, will be right around the 20th.

Long story, short - this means that the sets I'd built so far will have to be dismantled, and, any chance of filming will now be delayed until, at the earliest, the end of this month. I may be able to rush the series after that, however, since I've already committed to August, I'm going to try and keep that as my hard deadline.

That way, I'll have a bunch of consecutive episodes to air for several months!

Now, the goodnews -

This delay has actually had some unexpected productive outcomes as well!

For starters, I'm going to move this thread to the production forum, where it will stay until the series is completely finished (if that ever happens) :P .

On top of that, I've got a lot more time to work on polishing scripts now, and will post the 'casting call' thread up next week! So, if anything, this overall delay has actually created some more chances for fans to interact with my series! I'm sure John Rhys-Davies would approve. B/ ok, maybe not...

I still plan on doing, at the least, something special for the 22nd. I'm not sure what yet, but, am open to suggestions. I've got to recognize the 20th anniversary somehow, right? Either that, or wait until the 25th!
The remix sounds good, and to be honest, quite a bit more appealing than the "Sliders TAS Theme."
It has a cool retro sci-fi feel that fits the premise of the series perfectly, it's also got a more full sound, while your composition has a slightly artificial feel, some timing issues, and sounds eerily similar to your Johnny Thunder theme.
I think that I've been able to fix some of these issues in the months since - giving my music a more realistic sound, and, much better stereo placing. I've listened to Beatles, Phil Collins, and Queen mixes intently to try to find similarities in mastering styles. However, I'm still yet to fully master bass/treble, which, admittedly, is a large part of music editing.

Hopefully, with some practice, I'll get better at this.
...it's pretty cool on its own, so I'd say go for it. On the other hand, you could get in trouble for using copyrighted music, so keep that in mind.
That is the exact reason that I hesitated to do a remix like this in the first place... I'll quote my original sources, give credit where credit is due, and set the ads off, just to make sure copyright doesn't become a hassle.
If you could write a theme that's a bit closer to the original, and iron out some of the issues, then that would probably be the wisest option, and you'd have the joy of saying the entire short is your own work.
I'll try to work on doing something like this up until the deadline. If I can come up with something that makes me happy, I'll go for it. Otherwise, It looks like I'll have to stick to the remix theme.
I really like the new theme. Very nice! Could you link me to the other one so I can decide which one is better?
Sure thing, Harborlight.

Here is the theme from Season 3 (Quality's not too great, as, it's obviously been speed up)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzBBNHZ72SM

Here is the theme from Season 5 (Quality is a bit better, but, still, not great)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9QcfbN8WlM

The main difference between the two is the middle section...

Just for fun, here is the theme from Season 1 - much different, and, pretty dated to the 90's in my opinion.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1G1pts7nMg (Only from 0:00 to 0:22)

And, just for the record, here is the theme I originally did, again:
https://soundcloud.com/dylandbrickfilm/sliders-tas-theme-stereo

For the music I used, I just ripped it from the Menu of the Sliders Complete Series DVD collection... It's got the highest quality mixes that I've heard - all without the narrations. That way, I'll be able to record the thing myself! :)

Some feedback would be appreciated on the remix theme. If there's enough positive/negative feedback, it may sway my opinion on the track... I could switch back to the original, or, perhaps, even try my hand at another theme completely. There's still about a month in between now and the release date of the first episode!

Otherwise, I'd like to say that I've completed the first two scripts... I'll be sure to show some snippets in the upcoming updates, along with pictures, and perhaps, even a sneak preview of the upcoming pilot! So stay tuned. :)

I would really prefer to release these updates on Monday, however, I prefer to space them about a week apart, so, I'm going to have this week's update today, and then, next week onward, I can resume Monday updates. :)

UPDATE:

I've decided that, for the first season, I'll go with a remixed version of the original show's various themes as a mashup, instead of using my own original title music (as seen in the first update post). However, I do plan on scoring every episode myself, and possible even creating a main theme for later seasons!

Here is the remix that will be featured in Season 1 - https://soundcloud.com/dylandbrickfilm/sliders-theme-remixed

Also, there has been a change in plans for the series...

I'm in the process of moving to Florida, and, will go down there for two weeks for vacation/location scouting starting on March 7th. Thus, I think I'll only have time to film the first episode (which will be a two part show). Thus, I'm changing the plan as follows:

The pilot episode of Season 1 will air on the 22nd, and the 30th of March, respectively. Then, there will be a several month hiatus. The weekly airing of episodes will resume around August or September. After that, the only predicted hiatuses could be in between seasons - and even at that, should only be a break up of a month or so.

I know this delays the series a bit, however, I think that this will best fit my plans, and will also be best for the series in the long run, as, I'll be able to concentrate most of the summer strictly on episodes of Sliders TAS.
You're going to be busy, but make many happy along the way.
Thanks. It will be a bit of a stretch, but, then again, even though I really want to be able to film the whole first season in block sessions, I only really need to complete the first episode before the deadline. That gives me a little over a month for just one 10 minute episode - in the worst case scenario. :P And that's easily manageable.
Wow, March isn't too long from now. I would have expected that you had the scripts done my now...
Yeah. I'm pretty slow when it comes to writing scripts as it is, and, now, I'm trying to reboot a series while still keeping links to the original so it could also be seen as a quasi-continuation; all while trying to make it easy enough to understand for the newer viewers!!!

If nothing else, though, it's been fun writing like this. :P A nice little challenge for myself.
I'll be looking forward to the casting calls. This series looks interesting, I hope you can pull it off!
I think I'm going to upload another test theme, probably next week, and then, I'll do some character bios before I actually start the casting. I will say this now, however:

For those who haven't seen the original show - There always were "reoccurring" characters who would be portrayed by the same actors, and would appear in most ever episode, but, would have a different personality in world to world...

For instance, there was this Taxi driver who, in one "world" ripped people off, in another he was a resistance fighter for an underground democratic movement in a communist-ruled world, and in yet another, he worked with the mafia. The only thing that stayed the same was his occupation, and his sense of humor.

I think this sort of a concept is great, as it can give a certain similarity between episodes (showing that it is all set in one location) but, can give some twists and turns depending on what wacky sort of scenario each world has. - This Taxi Driver will, for certain, be one of the characters up for casting.
BTW, what ever happened to your THAC film?
It's still in production :P

I've had a lot happen to me over the past month and a half, and, actually, I was dislocated to a hotel temporarily right during THAC time. I even attempted to film most of it there! (And had a very hard time with lighting flicker and the such.)

Long story short, I'm planning on moving before the summer, but, in the meantime, and back home, with access to my entire LEGO collection to boot.

So, I'm going to be filming like crazy in my free-time over the next few weeks. In that time, I'd like to get some CinematiCritics episodes completed (another show I'm starting), as well as work on Sliders, and perhaps even contribute to my THAC film (which is now looking to be upwards of 15 minutes...), a Johnny Thunder film, and perhaps some extras. - All of that on top of finishing up some voice acting and brickfilm scoring some films I'm a bit late on. :P

But, at least I've got my Beatles collection to listen to during all of that.

Now with a solid release date (the 20th Anniversary of the premier of the original show), I plan on filming the next season over the next few weeks.

Episodes should be around 8 - 10 minutes long, and will come out Friday of every week. (Apart from the first episode, though, which will be released on a Sunday)

Each season should be around 20 episodes. I'm just starting to script most of them, however, when they are complete, I will create a casting discussion in the Audio thread for minor and reoccurring characters.

I will continue to update the progress of the show from now until the premier. Then, I'll try to keep most production info a secret, to give the later episodes more surprise upon release. :)

BTW, If you have any ideas for worlds that the Sliders could go to, don't hesitate to PM me here on BiM. If I like your idea, I'll credit you as co-writer for that episode; Your ideas could make it into the show!
