Ohhhh thanks very much for that information Rioforce I think your exactly right. To be honest I wasn't sure if he meant the whole frame or just on the character. But I think you said it perfectly!

Very much appreciated bud! :)

Sincerely,
Divine.

I think he means to take a flashlight, cover it with something red (like red plastic wrap) to make the light red, and while capturing the frames, shine the light on the minifigure on those frames the effect is supposed to be taking place. Then, when you add the lightning in post, it will look like it's really there because it is actually emitting light like lightning is supposed to do.

Hey SlothPaladin,

Thanks for your response, are you talking about shining light to the minifigs when the effect is in place? Or the lightning itself? If you did mean the minifigs this is something I want to learn to do, but don't yet know the basis of it. I know it wouldn't be nothing to serious, like some tracking motion and light source would be needed if I'm correct.

I could also try and make the scene redder than usual is that what your referring too?

Sincerely,
Divine.

So I am now beginning to push myself to learning VFX, I understand people are busy or just don't have the time to commit to other peoples project, so for the best interest of my series I'm taking the responsibility for it and hope to learn as much as I can as fast as possible. Here is a test using lightning strike against another minifig.
Yes it is a little dodgy, but that's mainly because the animation was rushed and not particularly the VFX, however this was a test only.

This one is more of a simple animation test with a bit of panning.

Any comments or feedback is highly appreciated.
