I don't know how helpful this is, but I have found that on sites like Voice Acting Alliance if you have a good pitch and some strong samples of previous work you've made, you can get a lot of auditions from talented people. I had a really positive experience trying this, they were excited at the opportunity to do something other than the bulk of what that site offers, anime fandubs and flash animations.

I may or may not have done the same thing. Just switch anime with another word.

I recommend two sources:
1) http://voiceactingalliance.com
2) Going on YouTube, use keywords such as "My Sims 3 audition", and directly contacting female actresses who have the best videos. Good for teen voices. 1 in 10 is excellent.

Here's some more detailed information on finding actresses at these sources from my Brickfilming Guide:
• Voiceactingalliance.com A generic voice acting forum. I didn't have luck at first but in time I found several voice actresses here.
• Sims (3) Overdub Series You may not know of their existence, but there is a world of animation that resides parallel to the brick filming community: the Sims overdub series. These people create a visual world in a Sims game, including the characters, and write scripts, then have voice actors play the parts of the characters, which are subsequently animated via control of the Sims virtual environment. Most of these series are teen dramas with a soap opera feel. Not my genre, but there is a lot of female talent. The ratio of females to males in the brick film community is low but females in the Sims community are extremely plentiful. Therefore, it's a great way to find females to appear in your film. Specific voice actresses' videos can be found on YouTube under keywords such as “my audition sims 3 series”. Review many and choose someone who sounds professional (I recently went through eight before finding a suitable one), then send a message to that person. Keep the account names of backup actresses available, but only contact one at a time, moving to the next one if the current request
refuses or fails to reply.

I agree with the OP.

I have only done 2 flicks of note and they both have lead actresses. That is not an accident. I want to make it a point to have a female lead going forward (I'm a guy btw) but it is so much harder to produce when you are casting women. Why? If you have an all male cast then finding actors is guaranteed (time is the only variable) meaning you can do scripts and animate non-dialogue scenes without a worry. If you hope to cast one or more women then you need to script first, get committment 2nd, the get dialogue and then, only then, are you brave enough to animate because if you fail to find an actress then all the scenes with a female minifig need to be redone - probably your entire film. :(

I think the only fix is for communities like ours to pledge to star girls in speaking roles for every film released in the next 6 months or so. Create a demand so great the voice acting communty will learn that they are needed and wanted and free practice is available.

Dunno - hard to turn the tide on my own.

You're not the only one here that wants a more diverse female population on the forums. It gets lonely here sometimes... :twitch:

Have you ever tried other voice acting communities on the Web? Here are a few links I can think of off the top of my head.

And that's just what comes up after a quick Google search. Maybe you could try looking it up, and see if there is anything out there that suffices what you want.

When it comes to Brickfilming, Females are a minor demographic. That makes finding a Female voice to star in your Brickfilm all the more difficult. Is there a community out there that dedicates itself to voice acting? Should BIM make a connection with that community? I don't know, I'm just bringing up ideas. I'm currently trying to find more female voices for my film and made this for my own gain at first. However, this topic can also allow other members of BIM to bring new ideas to the "Table" on how we can make finding voice actresses more efficient.

I know that Mary Charles, Coolbeansbebeh, and TLFScarheart are in this community, but I want a more diverse selection of female voices (No offense in any way to the voice actresses on BIM).

This topic doesn't have to go anywhere, but if you are tired of not having a voice actress taking the role of a female character in your film, be my guest and share your thoughts.
