How about:
Seconds after the woman realizes her mistake, her colleague/husband/friend walks in. The colleague/husband/friend says that he must destroy the clone. The woman and the clone start trying to make him destroy the other one, and convince him that they are the "real" one. The man pulls out a gun, but can't decide who to shoot. You then see the gun fire, and one of the women fall down dead (but you don't know which one). Fin.

Kinda depressing isn't it?

The clone makes 2 clones. Those two clones each make 2 clones. Those 4 clones each make 2 clones; etc. etc. then something hilarious happens and voilà, top notch animation!

Of course, you'll need to buy 254 more female scientist minifigs...

On second thought, scratch that idea.

A sharp blow to the head should do it.

But you want to keep it light. I can't really help you with that.. :P

Furious, the scientist dumps a beaker of acid over her failed experiment and watches, satisfied, as the clone slowly and disturbingly melts away. With a wink and a smile to the camera, she jokes, "Guess that's why I'll never have kids!" The studio audience laughs and credits roll.

The scientist goes to fix the problem, but when she returns to the room with the device to send her clone back, it's gone! She goes on a wild search across your choice of locations (either inside the lab, or across the town or city...) while a countdown to universe destruction ticks down in the background... When she finally finds her clone, who just went off to eat lunch or whatever, she sends it back in the nick of time. She breathes a sigh of relief, turns around and spots two more clones standing there. "Uh oh." The End
