Just for historical interest, check out my COMPLETE HISTORY OF RECORDED MUSIC PART 1 video. If features recordings all the way back to Edison (and before). It's on the only YouTube channel I didn't delete yet.

Call me weird if you will, but I like to listen to music from the 1940s and from the civil war when I animate.

I also listen to soundtracks like normal people though....
Normal...normal, well okay then :P

What kind of things from the civil war? The only songs I'm familiar with are When Johnny Comes Marching Home and The Battle Hymn of the Republic, both of which I like a lot but don't listen to them regularly or anything.
"The Battle Hymn of the Republic" would definitely be my favorite, but here are some of the other ones:

"The Southern Wagon"
"We'll Fight for Uncle Sam"
"Southern Soldier"
"The Battle Cry of Freedom" (Famous one)
"To Arms in Dixie"
"The Irish Volunteer 11"
"The 97 Regimental Stringed Band"
"March of the Southern Men"
"The Iron Brigade"
"Sherman's March To The Sea"
"Marching Through Georgia"
"A bunch of others"
No way, I'm not the only one who likes civil war songs? Okay, so I don't know the names of many, but I do like the genre, old-fashioned and full of fiddling! Based on the fact that you've heard "Marching Through Georgia" and "Sherman's March To The Sea", I trust you know about Sherman's campaign to take Atlanta and move on to Savannah. That is so weird, I just finished the script for- No, no, I promised myself I would keep that under wraps for now. You'll have to wait until July 22nd: ( http://www.bricksinmotion.com/forums/topic/19464/blue-and-gray-an-american-civil-war-brickfilm/ ) to find out what that's about.

As for myself, I don't know the name of this song, but every time I hear it, I think of Nathan Wells and his incredible brick films, which makes me want to make incredible brick films as well. Also, it has a really triumphant rhythm to it.

I enjoy listening to music, but I find I'm mostly inspired by the sound of silence. When I'm thinking, anything I listen to gets phased out - so I usually just sit in silence whilst writing.

When actually animating, I need to have something on in the background otherwise I'll die of boredom.

I was listening to this the other day. At midnight. On constant repeat. While studying for a psychology exam.

I'm such a normal person... :shifty:
