On the topic of the lenses, do you have any problems with those focusing, because I've heard a lot of talk about using non Canon lenses with Canon cameras and not being able to focus properly? Because of the distance between the lens and the sensor being incorrect. I really love the full version, it makes a lot more sense and flows much better. :)

Thanks! I use three different Nikkor lenses on my camera, a 28mm f/2.8, a 50mm f/1.8 (both primes), and a 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5. I generally prefer to work with the primes, though it's nice having the zoom option on hand.

Anyway, lovely animation as always, and even though I saw the unfinished version I still smiled again at the big punchline, great work.

I think your being a bit hard on yourself. I'm sure that the final version will be better, but hey, this version isn't bad at all in my opinion. I found it to be quite clever and well animated. I agree with Sean, the punchline/the joke was great.

Not the most original approach, but maybe that's because another member made an entry that was so similar to this.

The way I see it, its a great preview for the final film. But, I do expect this "preview" to place high in the contest. And its great to see Ben and Andy back onscreen.

Okay, so it's not shiny and clean, but I can tell the final version is going to be amazing; although you weren't the only person to come up with the smiley idea. I loved the final punchline at the end, and I can't wait to see it all wrapped up in a bow. :)

COMPLETE version
Contest version

I have now have the complete version of what was intended to be my entry into THAC 11, more than twice as long as what I submitted. For the record, much of the footage you see in it was actually shot in the original 24 hour time period, but had to be cut to make the condensed "contest" version make sense. The only scenes that needed to be shot after the contest were the most of the dialogue scenes in their apartment and the little criminal "montage" in the middle.
Alright, so...couple of things to explain about this. First and foremost, this is a total hackjob of what I originally intended to make.

I ran out of time to get everything I wanted to get done on this before the deadline, and in the 11th hour (or, rather, 22nd), I decided to find a way to take the footage I had and cut something together just so I could have an entry in the contest. This is the result of that, though I had to cut a lot of footage and subsequent jokes from it to make it work. Also, it's far from polished, as I didn't really have time to do much in the ways of audio editing, the mixing is really poor and there are no proper sound effects.

So I'm not exactly proud of this version, though I still wanted to get something in for the contest regardless. The technical polishing is fairly shaky and I'm not even sure if the story makes total sense as is (the Christmas aspect of this is definitely lost in translation). However, the good news is that I plan to finish this up very soon, and it's probably gonna be far better than this, so I'll be posting the fuller version once that's done.

For now, though, here's my submission to THAC 11.
