That's a good idea. I'm rounding up commercials for ep 2, but maybe after that, he can do an occasional movie trailer review. Again, the animation was intentionally just Brent, but for each future episode I plan on adding a bit of new animation to I have an opportunity to provide increased variety with each episode. Remember, this is a side project just so that there is expanded HOO universe material in the long waits between episodes! Part 2 is up now, hope you enjoy it!

I liked the simplicity of this. I thought there could have been a little more animation, since it was basically Brent just sitting there. But, I would like to see a "theatrical trailer version", perhaps? Where Brent talks about the movie trailers that he doesn't like. But, I'm liking this "commercial roundup" idea.

Steve, being a nerdy guy, has a camera stand. Remember, this was designed to provide maximum comedy with minimal animation, like early Hanna-Barbera cartoons (Huckleberry Hound, Yogi Bear, etc.)

Hmm, that was an interesting concept. As usual, the comedy was spot on. Id say, stylistically, it might make it more entertaining if you moved the camera around to make it look handheld. That would introduce some veriety into the talking heads shots. Overall, good job. I'll watch the second part tooo :3

Hey.

1) I'm just using a table lamp with a 75 or 100 watt bulb (not sure which, must check) and a desk lamp with a 60-watt bulb, favoring one side.

2) The cup looks REALLY big when "steven" makes close-up shots. Like something out of Alice in Wonderland.

3) I speculated several times on what the commercials would be like made with Lego, using the original commercials' soundtracks. But I actually came up with this series as a way to keep "Holding Our Own" fans interested in the storyline while I work on my regular series, which takes a long time to make from one episode to the next. So, for that reason, the commercials will be real-world. I'll be recycling the animation in episode 2 and beyond, maybe adding a bit of new animation with each episode so that Brent has a larger repitoire (sp?). In the 1990s "Beetlejuice" cartoon, they did something similar. The series was traditionally-drawn. But they always had one short segment per episode in CGi, which was far more primitive at the time. The CGI was used whenever they were showing a scene on TV in the storyline.

4) I watched your animation. I liked it. It's cool to see the older Fabuland figures as the characters. I noticed the elephant's clue, but won't spoil it.

The first shot set-up has interesting perspective, making the cup look like to be the size of the man's upper body, which makes you think it is odd (given you are using real world dimensions of objects) - but it is like that in Lego dimensions (cup the size of man's upper body). It's like it makes you think it must be a perspective bias, but it is actually a real thing. I took note and might use this sometime.
You should have tried to replicate those ads using Lego and original soundtrack - now that would be interesting.
What lamps are you using for lighting the scene?
