You can use colour correction to substantially change the mood, time and general setting of your film. For example, if I was to film an early morning sequence I'd definitely use quite bright, blue-ish hues. Or conversely, if i was to film a desert sequence, I'd use more yellow/magenta hues in the balance.

This should be in post production. :)

It is pretty hard to teach everything about color correcting, but I'll try my best. ;)

Watching this could help you
The helpful stuff begins from 3:00. It is in after effects but it works pretty much the same in all programs
2. How do I apply color correction to my films?
- Color correction is quite an easy effect. It can be done by (adding and/or adjusting) curves or levels controls.
It is mainly used to add contrast and to give the right feel in the shot(making it look warm, cold, dark, ...)
Warmth can be added by decreasing the amount of blue color and adding some red color in. Cold color are made by decreasing amount of red color and adding some blue color. You should use some time to get confortable with these controls before trying to apply it in your film.
3. Why do I want to use it and how do I apply it effectively?
- Color correction is easy and quick effect to apply and when correctly used, it can make your film look lot better. To apply it effectively I would suggest to not overdo it, since it can literally ruin your whole film.

I have three questions regarding color correction:

What exactly is color correction?[/*]

How do I apply color correction to my films?[/*]

Why do I want to use it and how do I apply it effectively?[/*]
I'm currently using Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 12 for my editing software.

Edit: I hope this is in the right subforum, I wasn't sure whether to put in in Software and Hardware or Post-production.
