I Almost always make a Brickfilm school project when I have the opportunity. It combines the work I have to do, with the work I love to do!

Here is one I did a long while back, the voice acting, editing and animation make me want to vomit, but the other students were strangely baffled :P

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EymUK5--Qg

Another strange thing, the teacher didn't seem bothered by the violence!

That, Rsteenoven, is why I love doing brickfilms for school projects:

1. I have fun making brickfilms, so it makes the assignment a lot more fun than it is work. Much better than making a PowerPoint.
2. Having a deadline for the assignment makes me want to work harder on the film, so things tend to be more structured and planned.
3. Teachers and students are always blown away by them. Brickfilms, much more than live-action, tend to give off more of a wow factor when I present them to others. It is very nice to see people, in person, genuinely enjoying your film. And teachers appreciate it a lot, as you clearly put much more thought, work, and creativity into your assignment than Bobby who did a regular old PowerPoint.
The great part is, no matter how bad a film is that you show at any sort of public school, most of the class will be impressed regardless. I showed that Santa film, which isn't horrible, but the animation is almost painful to watch and the voice acting is incomprehensible. Afterwards the people were like, WOAW you made legos move!
So true... It seems like the teachers especially are impressed. First question I usually get asked is from the teachers and is usually either "How did you make the Lego move?" or sometimes, "How long did it take?". So it really pays off to have an animation for school. It's just really hard sometimes.

That sort of thing happened to me with a film I made when I was in 8th grade. The film I made was incredibly choppy (it was like 6.5 fps or something) and had tons of focus flicker and light flicker.
I didn't think it was bad at the time, but after I was able to make better animation I didn't want my mom to show it as an example of my animation to people that come over anymore (she showed it to people a few times before).

I have made some better things for school projects since then, but I had to spend a lot of my time working on it to get it in on time and still have it be the quality I want it to be.

I'm on my way to the 8th grade--my "senior year" in Junior High, you could say. I might make some brickfilms for school projects. But, my teachers probably won't be as open as you guys' teachers, letting you guys make brickfilms for your class and such. I'd like to do that though. Because at the moment, the only thing my classmates know about LEGO is that it's a "baby toy". I'd like to show them and teach them a little more about brickfilms.

Oh yeah and I'm not saying your film is bad because I haven't actually watched it yet. But I'm sure it's really good and if I get time I will try and watch it :)

I think it's great to be able to brickfilm for school. It's a way to get your work out, and it shows your teachers/school what you enjoy doing. :)

My Laws of Newton video and my Censorship PSA were both school projects, and both were met with much praise!

The former got me invited to a special principals breakfast at the end of the semester (it was very awkward, as everyone else was invited for doing things like tutoring and ridiculous amounts of volunteering and stuff like that).

The latter was was part of a PSA competition that was held by the language department. Groups inside of each class would vote on their favorite video, and the winners in each class would go on to be voted on by the rest of the school to decide the winner. I won the class vote, but lost in the main vote, as at that point it became a competition of whose video featured the most popular student.

If you want to see the other PSAs, here you go.

Almost all of my more ambitious brickfilms were done for school. It's a great thing to do, even if you are not the best brickfilmer (me) people will be very impressed (OMG HOW DID THEY MOVED)

Joe Gets Malaria- A film with a moral based on fairy tales

Merlin's Robot- made it to explore a genre (mine was sci-fi

A Planet in Peril- this was a global warming project

Santa Claus is Coming to Town- A satire based on popular christmas music

These were all for my english class. One of my friends made a video on arms for biology but deleted it in a fit of teen angst.
Good luck with your project, Lava! :3
