By the sound of it, Man Of Steel isn't a very interesting film anyway.

Though, I haven't see it yet - so it could be good, but I doubt that every single critic that I trust is completely wrong...

Crowe wasn't bad in Les Miserables, in my opinion. His acting was good, but his singing :twitch: could have been better.

But, guys, let's not turn this into a "Costner sucks" thread. This is a thread devoted to talking about Man of Steel.

Rough Magic and The Man with the Iron Fists come to mind. My wording left something to be desired; when I said "choosing embarrassingly bad projects" I meant that more in the sense that his decision to work on them was misguided, assuming he wants to be thought of as an actor who stars in great films. This is all is relative, of course- a Steven Segal type's poor decisions are bound to be much worse than Crowe's because the former doesn't have the acting ability to support them. Still, when it comes down to it I think Crowe is inconsistent at choosing projects that are better than mediocre and a look at his filmography supports that conclusion.

I went to see Man of Steel for my birthday, and I couldn't disagree more with the critics who panned it. I understand that this is opinion, but I frankly find some of the reviews downright ridiculous (Wired's article is a good example of this--beware, though, there are SPOILERS). I find myself disagreeing more and more often with the critics when I watch films these days. I'm actually beginning to wonder whether they were secretly bribed by Marvel to give this film bad reviews...

Anyway, I'll probably post my further thoughts on Man of Steel on the "last film you watched" thread, if I get the time.
I agree that Costner and Crowe share the propensity for choosing embarrassingly bad projects on occasion, but I don't think it's accurate to call either a one hit wonder.
Which "embarrassingly bad" films Russell Crowe has ever acted in? I can't think of any. I really liked Master and Commander, and thought Robin Hood was good too (it wasn't exactly amazing, but I still don't see why it got such bad reviews).
Also, I've just realised that Russell Crowe is this generations Kevin Costner. He has only one real hit (Gladiator), and its a film which people are gradually starting to realise wasn't actually that good. Heck, both Russel Crowe and Kevin Costner have starred as Robin Hood. I can't wait to see what Crowe's Waterworld will be...
Eh, in fairness to both men, they've each had their share of award fodder (some of which could probably be argued as hits, though I'm tempted to say the term doesn't really apply to most films that aren't standard action/adventure fare because of the way those films dominate the box office). A Beautiful Mind and Master and Commander were well received films, as was Cinderella Man. Costner had Dances with Wolves and the Untouchables. I agree that Costner and Crowe share the propensity for choosing embarrassingly bad projects on occasion, but I don't think it's accurate to call either a one hit wonder.

You know, now that a load of people are saying Man Of Steel sucks - I'm actually interested in seeing it. I usually have a different opinion to others (don't like the recent Doctor Who, hated The Dark Knight Rises, thought The Avengers was meh, thought Prometheus is a good schlocky horror film but nothing more, haven't quite been convinced that Blade Runner is good yet, Pink Floyd's The Wall is one of my favourite films, and one day people will realise how good Where The Wild Things Are is) so I'm always interested in anything that receives a strong reaction. At least it proves we're not the mindless sheep hipsters and Marxists think we are...even though their kind of right.

I find it funny that people are blaming Christopher Nolan when its obvious he had little to no creative input. You might as well blame the sound technician...or the caterer.
