I "made it". I used a template off of some website where most of the icons and stuff came from, and really all that I did was arrange to fit our project. I don't know if we are allowed to use any of that stuff for use in our program, or if I can redistribute it so here is the link. Also, the picture that I made from it is here. And yes, on a mac I would assume those would be in the status bar, and it's weird that I'm on a mac and I didn't even put in a status bar

That looks absolutely fantastic Caveman! I really like it, especially the monochrome idea, and I second the fact that a brown interface would be on the tacky side. Just a suggestion, shouldn't the Save Film, Open Film etc be in the actual Menubar if it's on OS X, instead of the Windows-esque method of just having it lingering there?

Also, did you make that image? It's really great. I need it.

I like the interface, and you bring up some great points. While the splash screen should be fun and colorful, it's probably best to use something similar to that in the actual program.

It looks great, although you forgot to include a capture button. :P

Once the design of the interface goes underway, I think that it should be primarily monochromatic. A brown interface would look tacky and if we are going for a cleaner look, it may not be the way to go. Here is an Interface concept I threw together, but I think it's a touch dark and A bit empty, but it's a start. Also, it's just a concept to get some ideas brewing.

While the oven idea sounds, as Topit put it, "Adorable." It seems like something that would be hard to do well.
Maybe as a promo ad, but not as a splash screen.

I'd say to go a more traditional shape with the screen, I don't really care for the odd shape of "3.0", and it seems different just for the sake of being different. But, how about something a bit more simple like having a bite taken out of one side? That would go along with the food theme, but may not be as distracting or difficult as some fancy geometric shape.

And I'm sorry about not having an updated version of my splash screen up, I've just been quite busy lately.
Other than the double outlines on the buttons, are there any more specific ideas that ya'll would like to see?
Also, here's the original GIMP .XCF image file, (I think that will work.) if somebody else wants to try something as well.

but maybe a toaster oven
who even uses regular ovens to cook biscuits?

I've never actually known that the thing we are talking about is called a splash screen, that's pretty cool!
