Oh, something I forgot to mention, if you just take pictures with the camera and then transfer them onto your computer, make sure you get a remote shutter; if you take the frames by pushing the shutter button on the camera, chances are you'll move the camera slightly, which obviously looks bad.

One solution would be to trade me your camera for my webcam. That would save you all the trouble of buying extra software, and I would be more than happy to sacrifice that for you.

Seriously though, Backyard is right. Animation programs are nice, but there are a number who don't use 'em. Squid even animates with his DSLR alone. Not even attached to a computer. So it is certainly possible.

As for comparing the animation software, I can't really help you there. Sorry.

I wouldn't say AnimatorHD is a fraction of the price of Stop Motion Pro, when you look at the features the various versions give you, they are actually quite comparable, I'm still in the process of deciding which one I want. Onion skinning is nice, obviously, along with the other features a program will give you, but if you don't quite have the money, just taking the pictures and then transferring them in is a perfectly viable option. I've been doing it for years, and I'm not the only one here who's been using that method. :)

last year I enjoyed brickfilming very much and i used a Webcam. It broke and wouldent work at all. Therefore, i just gave up and never brickfilmed. I recently got a new Canon T3i because i wanted to get back into brick filming and i thought it would be a good camera for it. However i found it that dslr cameras dont work with monkey jam which is what i used. I was wondering what good animation softwares are there for dslr cameras? im not really looking to drop a huge ammount and im not sure if just simply taking the pictures and puting them in windows live movie maker is good enough.

Thanks,
Jordan
