I think I may have found a good camera for brickfilming, the Canon Vixia HV40, so, if possible, I'd like some opinions...

It was originally produced in 2009, and has since been discontinued. As a HDV camcorder, it records video to tape, but since I am using it for brickfilming, I will only be taking photos, so a gather this will not matter. Since I'm using iStopmotion (likely to be Express), the HV40 has a firewire port, allowing live view. I was wondering if it would be a wise investment to buy this camera, as it is outdated technology, and if there are any other alternatives? I know 'Bionicle28' uses the previous model, the HV30, on his videos (using a Mac with iStopmotion), and creates great quality films. So anyway, opinions please!
