I don't quite know how far apart those steps are spaced, but I tried a test with stairs that are each one full 2x4 brick high apart earlier. I wouldn't say it came out too badly. It isn't a tutorial, but pausing the video at certain frames might help you figure out if you like what you see. Here is my test: http://youtu.be/EVbpuLIx_D0 :)

You could always try this:

1) Raise foot

2) Sticky-tack fig halfway between stairs with legs facing opposite directions

3) Fig on next step down, slightly elevated on studs

4) Fig both feet down on step

(That was probably very poorly explained.)

Yah, I don't think that LEGO designed that piece with brickfilmers in mind. You would be better off making some stairs out of LEGO pieces (probably plates).

Good grief, I don't know if that's possible. Given that each stair is a whole block above the last one, getting a minifig to raise their leg high enough to reach the next stair would involve them lifting their leg 90 degrees. And there's no way to make a walk cycle look natural when the minifig has to lift their leg that far.

All I can say is I hope it's not too late for you to edit your set... :/

EDIT: Oh yeah, walking downstairs. It's still a huge gap, and even harder because minifig legs don't bend 90 degrees backwards.
