Um, I've done both! In My countdown video I put the song in Monkeyjam (former user) and animated to the music so it would be in sync but lately I use Helium Frog and just animate and Put the dialogue in to fit the animation in my video editor eg.
Record audio. Study the recording. Write down timings and main points in the audio, for example, the loud points will require larger movements normally...Try to pick out certain emotions and feeling in the voice. Animate it.

When recording, try to just be natural, its the little quirks etc that really bring out a character.

Hi guys. This may sound pretty silly, but I've never animated with dialogue before. Would someone please guide me through the process of doing so? (blending the voice with the animation to be in sync, such as, should I record audio first and blend with animation, or animate and then record, to be in sync with video?) Thanks guys.
