Mason is correct, I do also own this camera.

I have not used it to brickfilm.
On every count, I love this camera. My only complaint is the video quality, which is okay to decent at close range, but quickly degrades the farther away your subject is.

I have this camera (I think ZP does as well). I unfortunately found out the hard way on whether it is good to brickfilm with. It does include a wire, but this wire that goes to a USB port only transfers the files from the camera to the computer (like an SD card without the SD card). But it also includes an AV out wire. This wire is plugged into the same place the transfer wire is plugged into, but the second end of the cable has the Red, Yellow, and White plugs that transfer audio and video. This does actually produce a live feed when a certain combination of buttons are held down correspondingly, otherwise, it just shows images. Here... let me re-explain in a neater way:

1st wire: Is a digital output wire, plugged into camera, then laptop via USB. It cannot transfer live feed (to frame capture or any other frame grabbing software). It only transfers files.

2nd wire: Is an AV out wire, but one end plugs into the same spot as the transfer wire. The opposite end plugs into a tv or some other device via the red, white, and yellow plugs that transfer video and audio. When first plugged in, you can only view the photos you've captured on the output display, though after a weird combination (involving the delete button and such.. kinda forgot the exact combination), it will produce a live feed. This displays exactly what you see on your minature LED screen. If you have/buy an AV out to USB converter (not easy cap, be sure to find the maximum resolution the converter can send. Easycap only sends like 800x600) , you can actually send a live feed from your camera to your computer.

3rd wire: Mini HDMI to HDMI port. This is primarily used for the output of live feed. If you have a HDMI port on your computer, great! If not (like me), you'll need to buy an HDMI to USB converter, and then you'll be able to proceed as you wish.

Those are the three main wires that are included when you buy this. Though it has a long lasting battery, you're going to need a DC IN cable, because you can never know how long your animating will take.

I, for one, don't actually animate (live feed) with this, due to me lacking the HDMI port and even the converters, but after two years of research and trying to make it work, I think you can trust me.

So how exactly do I animate with this? I simply just take the pictures. This camera does not have the option to use a capture remote, so you'll have to click the button manually (not to forget it has all manual settings). I usually set a 2 second timer so the camera can retract from me pressing the button. It is a great idea (and most certainly needed) to use a tripod, with lots of sticky tac.

This camera can shoot in 4:3 3:2 and 16:9 (lowest quality setting for stills is still well over 1080p). There is not the slightest hint of light flicker, and the lighting stays consistent throughout the animation process.

EDIT: After taking the pictures, I string them together in a program called: Stopit

For me, this is not the greatest camera for animation, though it is possible. If you have an HDMI port, I say go for it. This camera has great quality, though I find it more fitting for actual photography. It is an excellent camera, and great to have, whether brickfilming or not. (strongly recommended you read the manual!!!)

Hello,

So I've been lately looking for a new good quality camera. And what I've found was a bit older camera, Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35. The camera looks over all pretty great to me, but I can't just be sure about it from reviews and pictures. So I would like to ask you; do you think it's a good camera for brickfilming? Please let me know. Thanks!
