Same here.
Why are people like that? They won't put anything new into their life!!!
I have found 2 people so far who like LEGO in 6th grade, but by 7th,i'll probably be the only person who likes LEGO in my school!!![/quote]
Well, in my school even the most annoying ones respect my works. They just wow at the amount of work put into any animated movie. But that might be just here.
For me, I just have to explain how stop motion works, and then I add "got it? Well, I do that with lego". Brickfilming isn't very popular here.

Story of my life

it souldn't be to hard to explain Brickfilming however I have also experienced people not understanding like Sonjira and cooldynamyteproductions.
I however believe that they don't understand because I understand and don't know how to explain it in a way they understand.I would not say that people have a hard time accepting new concepts. they just don't understand the new concepts. I bet no one even understood what I just said. Heck I don't even understand what I just said.
you see what I mean? :)

It's hard to explain to people, especially if you're in middle school, high school, college,or anywhere else.

But this is what people say:
"what's your hobby,Victor?"
"stop-motion"
"ah,cool"
"stop-motion LEGO movies"
"that's cool"
"yeah"

Don't be afraid to tell people,there's a 95% chance you'll be O.K. after you tell them. :)

Last weekend I was at a film festival which played 'Pirates Rule!' along with some other short independent films, and someone asked me to explain what I did, and I answered with something along the lines of this:

"Okay, so you have a minifigure, take a picture. Move the arm just a tiny little bit, take a picture. Move the arm another little bit, but slightly more than the last time, take a picture. Move the arm a little bit more, bump the camera, and restart the entire shot."

My usual way of explaining it is just "Lego movies" made with stop motion. I also like to draw attention to the fact that it's probably the best way to go about making an amateur film. With live action, you need all of these actors, sets, costumes, and with a low budget, you can't really do much. Where as with brickfilming, you can make a pirate island, a planet in space, or almost anything just in your room since they're relatively cheap.

... It's not that hard.

"So, Jonathan, do you have any hobbies?" "Yeah, animation. Mostly stop motion." "Oh, I've heard it's hard, and it takes a long time. You must have lots of patience!" "Well, I use LEGO to animate. The minfigure's body parts are very movable and they're easier to use. Plus, I don't have to buy tons of wood and crap." "Oh, that's cool!" etc.

That's how it usually goes for me, anyway

I was wondering, how should i explain brick filming to someone? As in tell them what it is and explain why it is a worthwhile thing to do. I know plenty of people at my school who don't understand what we do, and i'd like to try and explain it to them

-Thanks :)
