If you want a better webcam, get the Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 or the Logitech C910. I've heard those are the best webcams for brickfilming (I own a 9000).

The webcam does seem to have manual focus, which is essential for good animation. Just make sure that in the settings for your webcam, you are able to put all settings to manual: if you don't do this, the lighting will change drastically in between frames. The webcam does seem to have a maximum capture resolution of 640x480 pixels, which is quite low by today's standards.

All in all it sounds like an okay webcam to start out with, but a bit substandard if you want to get serious with brickfilming.
