Thanks. :)
I have it submitted.
lens flares are a result of light interacting with a camera lens, which is hardly "cartoony".
Gun Flares create light.
It's not very cartoony, but these are little bit of a mix actually.

Besides:

Lens flares can be pretty cheesy even when used sparingly. What purpose does the lens flare serve in this shot? Especially considering that lens flares are a result of light interacting with a camera lens, which is hardly "cartoony".

I'm glad at least some people like it. xD

But minifig pretty much nailed the reason I do this. Just like how a lot of people in brickfilms make more unrealistic cartoon style movements. Unrealistic stuff can be good.

And it's much better than some lousily done stock footage, and many other homemade flares. but I must admit, After Effects flares do look really nice.

Submitting this to resources is a good idea, how do I do that?
I like that. I think it looks cartoony. I think that less realistic=Legoistic. That's why I use Lego pieces for fire. When people use realistic stock footage stuff in a brickfilm, I think it looks fake. Those effects would look more real in a live-action thing. Lego is more simplified compared to the real world, so the effects should be simplified as well.
When I want to make a muzzle flash, I'm going to stick a red(or orange) Power Miners crystal on to the end of the gun with some poster putty. I might use a flashlight to light it up like you do.
You think like me.

I like it. :P

Looks pretty good, but it looks more like a laser to me. It might look more realistic if you made it yellowish orange. Also, did you do this in Photoshop CS5 or in Photoshop Elements?
