I remember once, I was still using my old computer, ands I just started using a webcam. I was using Monkey Jam. I don't know why, the program, in that computer, when I was using the webcam, would crash every five frames, sometimes less, sometimes more.
Once, I was shooting, it kept crashing, but I managed to stay calm and have patience all the time. I finally made it, I don't even remember how many hours later, I got a 15 seconds shot done. No sets bump, no camera bump, no light flickers, nothing that didn't work: turns out that it wasn't what I wanted for the film, so I didn't used that shot.
So much pain and effort for nothing. That day I got like 15 blue screens of death in my computer, circa one each 15 frames (lucky me it crashed less than usual that day).

On a different note, today, I discovered I don't like shooting on the ground: it's so tiring to crouch, move the legos, GET UP, take the photo and crouch again. The worst part is to stand up: for a lazy person like me it's painful.
Still, I made 21 seconds of footage :DD
WMM takes forever! My advice: NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER use WMM!
I have to kind of agree with this... But for a different reason.

Everytime I've used it, the software was very unstable and would crash very often.

So, as you can tell, back when I used to use that I was a very grumpy animator. :P Although that was actually a long while ago, back when I VERY first began making Brickfilms. I now not only have a better computer, but Sony Vegas.

P.S. TO THE NUIMOBILE!!

Of course it can be done. In Audacity there's a neat little db (decibel) slider on the head of each audio track with which to adjust volume.

It's a good thing I switched to Lightworks.

I used WMM for Bricks: The Short Film, a short that I made two summers ago that inspired the Bricks series. I had to manually drop each frame in and shorten it (when you put a picture in, it automatically set it to 1 fps or something). Uggh, I don't want to do that again. I think I missed something where you can change the framerate, but that doesn't matter now. I put each frame down to about 5 fps. I know, I was in Choppyville in 2009.

I also used it to add some of the audio for a school project i made during the 2009-2010 school year. I was still in Choppyville then, I didn't get into Smooth City until last summer. It wasn't as bad this time, I was just putting in sound effects.

There's just one feature that WMM had that I don't know if Lightworks has. I was able to turn down the volume of a sound effect so you can hear the characters talking more. Does anyone know if that can be done in Lightworks or Audacity?
You're pretty slick. Anyway, Magic of Colour was brilliant.
Thanks! Luckily the camera was on a tripod, so it didn't fall as quick as what it would have done if it was just on my table. I'm glad you liked my film!

Another bad thing happened to me while I was making my Septemberfest entry, 'The Magician's Hat'. I was spraying the water on the set, and quite a time into the animating I realised that the water had dripped behind the table a bit, and gone on my plugs. Lucky it was sprayed water (so it was drops), and I noticed before it got too much! I kept a carrier bag behind my desk after that. Thank god that was before I got my Macbook!

^That happened to me too! I was up all night making a brickfilm for a school project, and when I finally finished capturing all the frames (2,421 to be exact) I imported them into WMM. I finished editing the WHOLE film (FX, masking, voices, the whole enchilada) and then it crashed! The editing process (when WMM crashed) took me from 1:00AM to 5:00AM and the project was due at 7:00. Luckily they gave me a time extension! :o

I don't have many bad experiences, but back when I used Windows Movie Maker for editing, (not a practice I'd recommend,) I had been editing for about half an hour, and WMM crashed.
I lost my first ever brickfilm when my mom told me to delete all the pictures I had on the family PC. (This was before had my own.) Anyways, me being the inexperienced 10-year old I was, I didn't know I had to export my movie. Well, after I had deleted all the pictures, I realized that all that was left was a shell of the original film. :(

I wasn't that mad but it was a 30 minute film that I had worked on the whole summer and I did get a little attached to it so yeah.

I had a similar thing happen to me once......I was just working on a short animation test, and it was like almost 90 degrees in my room. I was pretty upset because I wasn't getting anywhere with the animation because of the heat, So I decided to take a little break for a while. Bad mistake. When I came back to film, my cat had jumped up on my table and started to shove my camera off! Luckily, I have carpet so when the camera hit the ground, their wasn't a single thing broken!

You're pretty slick. Anyway, Magic of Colour was brilliant.

The most recent thing it to happen to me is working with AE and 1080p on a PC that's got 2 GB of RAM - not really recommended. It crashed about every 15 min and I lost progress. Often.

Whilst I was making 'The Magic of colour' I had one of my lamps on my floor reflecting light off a white bit of card onto the set. The lamp's very tall.
At one point I put my chair on the floor (I can't actually remember why I lifted it) but I accidentally put it down too hard. It wobbled, tipped over, and I think it knocked my camera and my lamp over. I caught the camera before it hit the ground, but the lamp hit the floor and the bulb cracked. My chair also fell back and smashed into my lego on my desk I think.
Luckily we had more bulbs, so I was able to continue, but it was still annoying.
