"Sure, son."
You don't have to shoot it yourself.
Look on YouTube, there are lots of guns being fired.
Sometimes, in slow motion! :D
Thanks for the advise everyone! We filmed a bit of a scene in which there are gunshots in, and it looks pretty good; we'll be filming some more tonight, so we'll (Maybe just JP 3) be sure to incorporate the tips that you guys gave us.
Wait... what happened to my sig! my largest picture was only 401x100! :(
What? The last time I saw, your sig was as wide as the typing box :/ .
It was made up of 4 different images. :P
Check out my example

Hope this is what you were thinking of.
You still need a little arm movement, but otherwise, yes, that is about what it should look like. The arm should move up a little, but you just had a flick of the muzzle. ZP's example is a practically perfect example of pistol recoil. Also, your muzzle-flare is way to small. I believe freddiew's second channel on Youtube has a great tutorial on muzzle-flares. It's geared towards AE, but the tips are helpful for any program.
Nice, but you should have the guy jerk back after the gun fires.
Actually, ZP's is realistic. A real gun would only blow back a little. Most people think the arm should fly up and the body should move back, but that is an exaggeration. A realistic pistol recoil would look like someone bumped the end of the gun. Maybe more of an exaggeration for something like a rocket launcher.
Looks pretty good!
The only thing I would do is to make the flash a little less constant.
I used stock footage for that one... Each frame of the flash changes slightly, It's firing pretty fast! :)
