istopmotion has it limitations but its adequate for an amateur animator i use it and am perfectly okay with it sure Dragon would be nice but my videos aren't' going farther than youtube no its not worth it.
Istopmotion can use both still photgraphy cameras as well as Dv video cameras. HD doesnt really work unless you have an HD capture card. Again not worth it.

Seriously BindingBricks, I'd consider getting a Windows notebook. Don't forget the value of your webcam that you lose because you won't be able to use it anymore... and if you plan on using DSLRs sometime in the far away future, Dragon Stop Motion is the software for it.

Feel free to ignore this post but I'd like you to think about it.

It'd be much cooler if you got yourself a Windows workstation! You could save up for Dragon Stop Motion, still use your Webcam which is 100% compatible and profits greatly from the averaging of up to 60 (!) frames!

I'm soon getting a Mac so I want to use iStopmotion. However I have that bad feeling that my Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 won't work on a Mac. SO what cameras are good to use with it? I'm looking for cheaper-ish cameras but I still want to have the same quality that a LWCP9000 has for PC. It would also help if it had White Balance or something to prevent light flicker because I have found that a huge problem with the LWCP9000.
