Quickcams older than the 4000 do not work with Macs. The drivers are not designed for Mac software. There is one recent webcam that was designed with Macs in mind, but it has no manual controls whatsoever.

I don't think the C910 works with a mac, correct me if I'm wrong. I use a mac, and I recently got a camcorder off ebay. It's a few years old, and its a canon MD205. It does have manual controls, but I still haven't found out how to change the settings through istopmotion. If you get a camcorder you'll need a firewire cable, but which one depends on what mac your thinking about getting.
I would recommend a camcorder, most have good, if not better quality than webcams, and some, like mine are widescreen. All for about £55. :D

My dad said that he might want to switch his home PC computer to a MAC in the next two years because he's tired of his regular one getting viruses. I use a separate laptop to animate so the change doesn't effect me. However, I've considered getting iStopmotion on that MAC and using it instead. Then again, I would need a camera other than the webcam I have. Any suggestions of cameras in the $500> range that work with iStopmotion and that get really nice quality?
