It depends what you want. phpBB is a resource hog, but it has lots of features. PunBB is a lighter user of resources, as is FluxBB, but they are missing many of the bells and whistles. What you see in this forum is not a great example of what PunBB is really like, because I've upgraded the snot out of it with many extensions, some of which I created or customized myself, or one of the other programmers did. For instance, the spoiler tags, the scrolling emoticon menu, and some of the BBCode tag buttons above the text editor.

If you don't care about little gadgets like a scrolling emoticon viewer, "friends and foes," etc. I would suggest either using MyBB or FluxBB. Both are relatively lightweight, supported, and fairly easy to work with. I feel like the extra features of phpBB are not generally useful features, so unless you particularly like the standard phpBB skins or something I wouldn't recommend it.

Yeah, I assumed he just wanted to know, if he were a hacker he wouldn't need to be asking us.

To be honest I can't say I'd recommend PunBB without reservations, the main issue is that support for it is dwindling. You might be better off using FluxBB, which seems to have less extensions currently available but is being actively developed a little more. Both are based largely on the same code, and are extremely similar in functionality, as simplistic, light-weight forum software.
