If you switch the lamp on the left off, the one on the right acts as a tight spotlight.

			<content type="html"><![CDATA[Cover around the edges using black card or something more opaque. The 'shade' bit on my lamp is plastic and points the light in a certain direction, so you'd never guess that my book collection sits behind my animation table.]]></content>

I actually found this by accident with my brother, and I thought it looked aweseome, so I made a big LEGO brawl, and minifigs were all beating eachother up in a dark expanse. :P]]></content>
