Hello everyone,

thanks for all your comments (positive or negative). It is much appreciated.

What I want to show with this film is about the feeling of 'malheur' ('misfortune' in English but to understand more as 'sorrow'). It is like an illustrated definition of the word (to explain quickly). The cinematography, grading and the music are the main guiding of this feeling of 'malheur'.

I wanted also the movie to be depressing. But I am glad that for some people, fear was one of their feeling watching the movie.

Technically, I confess, the mouth animation was not what I enjoyed to do the must but was necessary to have a clear understanding of the character's feeling for some scenes. About the flickering, to be honest I didn't try to bringing down (I even sometimes add some). I like the kind of 'hand-made touch' (if that makes sense) that could give to the video, makes it less 'clean'. But I suppose it is a matter of taste.

So, again, thanks for your comments. It is great to have your thoughts about my movie and can always be considered for another one if there are any.

But for now I am concentrating on the subtitles. English, German, English for hard of hearing and French for hard of hearing are already available. There are only at the stage of 'draft' really, but hope there are clear enough for English and German people to understand. Some 'optimized' versions will come later as for a German for hard of hearing too.

Wow, I really enjoyed that, the Cinematography in this was amazing, and the animation was almost flawless, but I agree with Leo, the story was not amazing, the ending was weak, the son just getting shot, not much too that. Until that point I really enjoyed it, but that part was quite bland, it needed something to cause an emotional change in the viewer, but I sat unmoved, blandly staring at the credits.
The music was very fitting, the flashbacks were intriguing, but the ending felt very blah, and i thought it needed something more, like Leo said, character change, maybe in the shooter, maybe some withdraw before he shoots the son, some reason to believe that the son might live, and then he dies, and some reason for us to remorse not sure if that's the right word over his death.

I liked it, even if I didn't love it. The technical work is great other than the mouth animation at time, but seriously the visual style of this film is pretty cool and probably the highlight for me. I liked all the lightning montages (I feel like there's a more correct term for those; really fast edits of brief shots) and they gave the film some distinction in style editorially as well. The story seems a little deliberately ambiguous, I enjoyed that.

Like The River, this doesn't follow a totally conventional narrative structure. I hate to make that comparison because this isn't much like The River, but it's simpler for the purpose of discussing this kind of approach to storytelling in brickfilms. I wouldn't want to see lots of brickfilms with this kind of ambiguity to the story and editing, but I like it as an occasional change of pace.

Looks like I'm the first one to chalk up a negative review.

Animation, camera work, sound design - all very good, and though the music might be a bit repetitive to some, I liked it. As a whole the film conjures up a lot of suspense.

However, the story doesn't have a lot of meaning or intrigue. In general the audience sits and waits twice through the while film for the killer to shoot his victim(s). There isn't a lot of personality to any of it, no character change.

Compare it to Cognizance. (which isn't fair, I know, but bear with me) Cognizance's general idea is similar - we're waiting for the killer to shoot his victim. But Cognizance is completely based around a character change, and so in the end when someone does get shot (nearly identical visual ending to your own) it means something personal to the audience, whereas yours was just a bland tragedy. Cognizance contrasts emotional moods (dark story vs. music, emotion) while yours was consistently dark.

I just feel like it needed a lot more complexity to be anything more than a five-and-a-half minute people-get-shot story. I enjoyed it, and it has great technicals, but it's certainly not a "brickfilm classic."

- Leo

This was truly a fantastic film. Great animation, lighting, set design, and story. The mouth effects, I felt, could of been a bit better however. At times you could really tell they were CG. I liked the music, it worked really well and created the fantastic mood that was there for the whole film. And you just might be one of the few people who can actually make a creepy brickfilm.

Overall, this is for sure going to be known as a brickfilm classic. Wonderful job. 4.8/5

I loved it. This was magic to my eyes. When I first saw the trailer, I thought it was good (I think I even favorited it), but I'm blown away by how awesome this is.

The audio and music fit in well, and had a clear sound with no background noise, and the enormous set designs were great. I also liked the credits at the end and the color grading to make everything look "bleached out." It gave the film a nice look that fit the mood well. The digital faces were also quite amazing.

However, I think that sometimes the animation was a bit rough, and not as smooth as it could have been, and there could have also been muzzle flashes when the man shot the gun instead of just gun sounds.

Apart from that, it was a great film. :)
