How would it look to take normally filmed footage (15fps) and then play it back at 7fps while applying a motion blur? That's a "poor man's" slo-mo, and might look okay enough for simple, quick projects that don't need to be professional quality. Animating at 15fps is challenging enough. Trying to animate minifigs at 30fps (even smaller movement increments) would probably make me scream.

I learnt how to use blender once, I got pretty good at it (i think) but now I use another piece of software, and I can't imagine how difficult blender would be for me if I went back to it. Still...its an incredible piece of software for a freebie

Yeah, the smaller increments sounds easiest.... and less painful... OldScratch, I know running or walking would be quite hard. I was planning on doing slow-motion where (I know 300 does it, but I've only seen Legend of the Seeker) it goes at normal speed, than slows down, than gets back up. I would only do it when there's a sword swing or people flying backwards.

And Lechnology, you still confuse me with all your CGI stuff. I've tried Blender, and man is it confusing!!

Fantastic advice there, ratboy.

The way slow motion works in real life is that the camera is cranked to record at a higher frame rate than the footage will play back at. So if you're normally recording NTSC at 30 fps, you might record your footage at 60 fps instead, and play it back at 30 fps for half speed. So like BertL and Hazzat say, more frames at smaller increments is the way to do it. Walking/running in slow motion would be incredibly hard to do with lego.
