Hey, everybody.
Hi, howya doing?
If you've ever seen one of my films,
I haven't recently, but I'll take your word for it
you'll know that my sets are pretty suckish,
No sweat, happens to the best of us
mainly because I don't have that many bricks.
A leading cause of bad sets.
Well, I've got $100 bucks
Somebody got a job!
to blow on LEGO
Blow on LEGO? Do you mean like this?
so I was wondering if you guys could help me out.
Well, I'm open to help you.
What colours/pieces are most useful specifically for building amazing sets?
Try to stay away from anything to harsh. Avoid reds, bright greens, yellows. Go with something general, like White or Gray. Bley is hard to come by, but looks very nice too. Black is OK, but tends to reflect -- a big no-no for brickfilming (greenscreening problems, seeing your own lens). Tan bricks are easier to find then Bley, but you still gotta look. Tan will come out nice, too.

Hope it helps!

Haha, I have $100 to spend to. I think that maybe spend it on rare(er) colors, or buy some good minifigs. I saw a lego bin containing 5000( :o ) lego bricks in my local Canadian Wal-mart for I think $50. I might get that. I think you should just get some bricks for sets and stuff....

But, IDK ;)

I love the dark red, dark blue and dark green bricks.
Brown and dark green go pretty good with grey.
A very effective are those brick walls (picture) and detailed windows (link).
You really should spend a lot of set designing time in details. Remember to create your set "natural". Build things, that you expect to be in a room.
Youst look through the "set design" thread ;)

Trees and bushes
2x4's for grass or just flooring
look up how like the green grocer is made for some interesting wall ideas
