I was just thinking about with THAC coming up tomorrow, there's going to be a ton of films posted in the directory. Perhaps tags could be used to identify which BiM contest a film was entered in (there would be no tag in the case of no contest). Like [THAC6] or something. I think this would make it easier to find all the contest entries in a search or something since we have no directory yet.

I guess most people do this already, but the competition tag would make it a little more uniform.

I think the tags would be a lot more suitable if there were a roughly equal number of trailers/previews, releases, and works in progress. But as it is the vast majority of films posted are releases. I am also in favor of taking off the tags for releases but keeping them for trailers and WIPs.

Another idea would be to put the tags at the end instead of beginning of the title. That way, you can still see the titles as normal and only look if you want to in your natural line of sight to see if it is a release or not. I think that alone would make the tags a lot less obtrusive.

A third idea (if it is possible with PunBB) is to have a tag within the post itself, like a blog post would have. You can just type in "release" or whatever it happens to be and see that at the bottom of the film thread instead of in the actual title.

I, too, think that the tags were a great idea on paper that just don't work in reality. Like others have said, we don't really need them since everything in that forum is a film anyway. I'd be all for subforums if possible, but if not, I think the old method will work.

It makes browsing hard on the eyes, because you have to look past the first word in the title to see what the film is, which sounds simple, but is a real pain.
