I'm pretty sure Hitfilm 4 express doesn't have fire simulations. :|
I just checked, and yes it does. It includes a bonfire effect, and magic fire, as well as fire explosion and magic fireball effects.

If more/different options are needed, you can purchase the Destruction pack for $25, which includes all kinds of fire, explosions, etc..

Check out Hitfilm 4 Express. The free version has lightning, and customization lens flares (much better than the basic After Effects' flares), plus some decent rain, fire, smoke, etc. simulations. All that, beside the fact that it has color correction and stylize effects, stabilization/tracking capabilities, keying, and much more.

If you don't have such a budget, I'd recommend detonation films as "MarkNelsonMovies" suggested above, I believe they offer some free Stock footage for download.
