Hey! Since the last post, I released a new beta version (Windows & Linux only for now), which has features like Project Management, Autosaving to disk, German Language, and less bugs!
So you can now use the software without fear of loosing all your hard work.

I've also opened the source code on Github if any programmer wish to contribute: https://github.com/HeronAnimation/heron-animation
Also, is there a connection between Heron animation and Eagle animation? They seem quite similar.
There is no connection between the two programs.
*According to Logitech, and the way I understand things, the C910 can only live-feed 720p, due to limits on the USB bandwidth. It does allow higher than that with pictures and recordings, but not live-feed. Newer technologies (USB 3.0) may have solved that going forward. However, unless Heron is reprogrammed to grab still frames, instead of frames from the live-feed, it's impossible to get anything higher. Even the C920 is plagued by this, as it does not use a new enough version of USB
Edit: I've noticed that, while using other programs (such as Microsoft's built-in camera feature) I'm able to utilize my C615's native photo resolution of 1920x1080. However, in Heron, the image size maxes out at the camera's video resolution size of 1280x720.

Do you have any plans on addressing this. If not, I guess I'll just have to get myself a C920 then :P

Thanks!
Work is in progress, the frames will be saved in a folder chosen at the creation of the project (Dragonframe style), so even in case of a bug (which shouldn't happen anymore), the frames should still be available.
As I rewrote the program from scratch, I am currently remaking some already existing features, so the next release won't be full of new features, but there will be those who matter the most (project management, save & load system...).

Nice animation there.
I do have to say most of the issues (duplicate frames and crashing when exporting) will be not that much of an issue if it saved each frame as you take it, so even if exporting at the end is bugged you can use the features then compile it in your editor of choice later.
what is Onion skinning?
Onion skinning is a technique in stop motion animation to keep track of the smoothness of your animation. Basically, when you're animating, you overlay a "ghost image" of the previous frame over the live feed. This way, you can see exactly how much the image has changed (for example, while animating a minifig's arm). Here's a short Wikipedia page about it. I generally only use it if I've accidentally bumped my camera or set and need to realign it all.
