Considering your budget, I second the recommendations for the quickcam pro 9000. I use one myself. Here is a shot I recently took with mine (taken at 1600 x 1200 and cropped to a 16:9 aspect ratio)

If you need further persuasion, this was shot with the quickcam pro 9000:

I agree with Harborlight. Creative used to be one of the top companies for webcams, but Logitech and Microsoft has pretty much taken over in that department.

Of course, since you said you had a $30 budget, the c920 is to expensive for you. That's why I recommended the Quick Cam Pro 9000. Maybe you should try it again on your computer, and re-install it's drivers and software. I'm sure that the Quick Cam Pro is a much better camera than the Creative and the Vimcro.

Okay, thank you!

I don't know if HD would be absolutely necessary for me anyway, because even with the Vimcro camera, I only needed it to have manual focus; once I got the shot focused well, it looked just fine. :)
I use Anasazi SMA to shoot my movies at this time.

The Vimcro camera came in a kit that I bought about 7 or so years ago.
Okay, thanks. I also have a Logitech Quickcam 4000, but when I installed it on my current computer, it would only show in black and white, as of the last time I checked.

Yes, I forgot to make mention of that in my post. But it was the way the video looked that was my point of course. :)

Do you have some examples of how I could adjust the cord?
Perhaps you may have come across a photo of it in your searches, but in case not, this is what my camera looks like in how it is built, only with a cord coming out the back end:

I would recommend the Logitech c920, though it's definitely not a 30 dollar webcam. It's going to be hard to find anything of quality with that low of a budget.

Though, the Logitech Quick Cam Pro 9000 is a fairly good camera, and it is running on eBay for less than 30 dollars. It doesn't take HD video, but depending of the software you use, it may be able to take large pictures that you can crop to HD. I own one, but haven't used it in a very long time.

I'm not sure about the Vimcro camera. I cannot find much on the internet about it. It looks like a cheap camera that is no good, so I don't recommend buying it. Go name brand when it comes to cameras.

Though, that video you linked was animated using a point-and-shoot camera (as seen at the ending), not a webcam, but a webcam would do the same thing, you would just have to adjust the cord every once in a while.

I am interested in looking for a new webcam, and I would appreciate any recommendations that you can give. :) I am looking for something that is reasonably low cost (figure $30 or less), has good visual quality, and is is the right size that the camera can be placed on a minifigure's ground level.

For an illustration of what I have in mind, watch this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5RrdGwtDLc

When the camera comes close the characters, their heads are on the same level as the camera, and the camera can move freely around the area. I currently use a Vimcro USB PC camera, which it sits up on a stand. When I place it in close range to my minifigures, it is above them and looking down, so if I want to do something that is first person view, it looks like the "player character" in the video is taller than all his opponents. The only remedy for this is to have the camera be off the set and down on a lower lever so that it is even with the baseplate, but then I cannot move it forward very far.
