Well... I finally found the solution! :)
I got a new version of Vegas and tried to import the .mov files in the project. It worked. So, for the context, I think .mov issue depends on the version of your Windows and your Vegas.
Thank you for the help, I really appreciated your help. :)

Converting is the thing that I already tried to do... It worked out, but in my opinion, it takes me much more time to make fx for the video, because I have to use Chroma Keyer. If I would just get the file in the timeline and the effect would be pre-keyed, I could do a video much easier. Btw, the quality of fx would still be better. :)

Yeah... Vegas and .mov format are mortal enemies, is seems to me. When I have a .mov file that I need to use in Vegas, I convert to another format using Xilisoft Video Converter. You can learn more about it and download it free to try at:

I have sony Vegas as well. My understanding is that it would need something similar to h.264 codec. I open .mov files all the time with the h.264 codec.

EDIT: I had the same trouble a while back, and turns out quicktime needed to update, and that was the issue. Maybe it needs an update?

If they are H.264 Mov files, they probably won't open. Vegas hates .Mov files. I had this trouble before. I've actually answered a similar question on this topic:

http://www.bricksinmotion.com/forums/topic/19995/playing-and-editing-dragonframe-files-from-my-mac-on-my-windows/

I'll quote what I said:
By "files quicktime created" do you mean .MOV files? Sony Vegas hates .MOV files. Especially H.264 files. I have had that same issue before. You'll have to convert them probably. mp4 files are better for Sony Vegas. What version of Vegas do you have? Is it Movie Studio or the real Vegas? If you have a more recent version, it may have an image sequencing function so you can just load the raw frames into Vegas instead of converting them to video files first.

To do that, go to the import file window, hover your mouse over the first frame so it's selected, then at the bottom, there's an Image Sequencing check box. Check the box and enter the number of the last frame in the text box. Make sure that your frames are named in a sequence (like 001, 002, 003, 004, etc.) or Vegas won't sequence them.
I hope it helps. :)

Hi!
Today I wanted to ask a question. I have a problem with the Quicktime (.mov) files not opening in my video editor, which is Sony Vegas Pro. When I try to import them into the project, I get an error: The file is unsupported format. I have already installed Quicktime, tried converting and a lot of other things, but it didn't work out for me. :(

If anyone had this issue and knows how to fix it, the answer would be really welcome to share. :)
