Ohh alright thanks for that Pritchard, I appreciate the info it does help a lot to know.

As I wasn't aware themes affiliate in copyright and festivals can ban it or refuse it, I guess as you said it's to encourage more original films.

Thanks,

Sincerely,
Divine.

As for Youtube monetizing, you can get away with just about anything as long as you don't use the actual music/sounds. No worries there. It's the festivals that you need to worry about. You can't enter a festival with a Star Wars themed short, and using a full clone trooper as anything but a tiny cameo may also be risky. Not that I'm an expert, mind you.

Use of the torsos on sci-fi soldiers should be fine, but the helmets are instantly recognizable and best not used at all.
If you're wanting to sell your own video, it has to be your own, not based on Star Wars or using any of it's characters/locations.

For festivals, at best they will refuse to accept it, which is bad enough.

And yes, there's the whole loophole of doing a parody, but most festivals ban copyrighted content anyway to encourage more original films.

Ohh I wasn't actually aware of that Chosen1 that it had a different effect, appreciate the info.

Just another question that relates to the topic say if you did want to enter into a festival or make money off it hypothetically speaking, what would make this situation/film not infringed to copyright? I'd really like to know is it something simply as changing the name of the use ''Clone trooper'' Or just not having clone in there?

And does the use of Starwars characters (Such as clone minifig torsos seen throughout film) fall in use of copyright if you did intend to put it in festivals or possibly sell commercially?
Again hypothetically speaking. What kind of trouble could you get in? Or is it all about your video being flagged and never seeing it's light of day?

Sincerely,
Divine.

Is having mentions of Clone trooper or Clone trooper in titles, is it in risk of copyright infringement?

I was just wondering as I wouldn't want work flagged as copyright if it's at risk of doing so.

Anyone who knows would appreciate your comment on this.
