I usually go to my local lego store in Westfield Stratford City (right next to the Olympic park I've never been in :P ). It used to take me about half an hour on the overground, but then I found out that I could take the Javelin train from St Pancras and get there in 7 minutes, so I take that route now. :D

Yeah, Backyard Legos, first of all, it's actually more private buying Lego sets in a physical store than online. Secondly, there is no shame in an adult buying Lego sets, especially these days. In the 80s, there was much more stigma placed by peers when a teen or young adult bought a toy, which, fortunately isn't the case today. Today there is so much appreciation for the historical aspect of pop culture that there is no "shame" (really the "shame" is just peer pressure) to adult toy buying.

To add to the discussion, I'm still definitely working on being confident about being a 20 year old shopping alone in the LEGO store, an advantage of online is privacy. But then again I'm also trying to work on self confidence, so...
What's wrong about that? LEGO is the best thing since sliced bread. Everyone should be allowed to enjoy it without anyone judging them. What better place to do it than a store where people understand your passion :)

I always prefer the physical store over online. I go to a LEGO story every chance I get when we go down south, there's none anywhere near me or even in my state. I often buy at Wal-Mart or Fred Meyers here in town, and sometimes from LEGO shop at home online, the VIP program is nice. I miss going into an actual LEGO store, browsing, and buying :(
Online. The nearest physical LEGO Store is about two hours from where I live, which is unfortunate.

However, when on holiday I make a point of going to the LEGO stores in the countries I visit. I've been to the Nuremberg LEGO shop twice now!
If I lived that close, I'd be there each weekend!

The nearest physical LEGO store is a 12 hour, or there about, international flight away from me. I was fortunate to visit one when I was last in America, and I signed up for the VIP program, so now I shop online and only when I have more than $150 to spend so I get free shipping as well as the points :)

There are two LEGO stores close to me within a distance of 3.5 hours, one in Austin, and another one in Houston. I only ever had the luck to check out the one at the Galleria Shopping Complex in Houston once, when there was a LEGO convention held in the adjoining hotel. If I remember correctly, my family might have bought one or two sets there, and a "make-a-minifig" pack.

And the one in Austin isn't much different, but if we're around town, chances are that we'll stop by. But, my family always prefers to shop for LEGO locally. So, do I. I don't think I've ever purchased LEGO online. It really is more convenient to simply go to Walmart, a mere two miles away, or to Toys'R'Us, which is twice that distance from my house.

I prefer to shot at the LEGO store as opposed to online, because shipping is annoying. I live close enough to one that I could walk to it if I wanted to, so I always check there first if there's a set I want, and it's really nice if I need something immediately, due to say, a contest deadline. I'm lucky in this way, it's unfortunate there aren't more LEGO stores around, the selection at retail stores isn't usually very good.
